Kathryn Gentile’s series of ocean
paintings begin at the water’s edge. The focus is on the movement
and the force of the water to evoke the feel of the ocean breeze and
the sound of the surf; the memory of the experience beyond what is
seen.
From a distance, her paintings resemble photographs; but close up
the hand of the artist is evident, in the carefully executed strokes
that give the finished work its energy and vitality.
Kathryn’s art has won awards in the Pastel Journal magazine’s Pastel
100, Art at the Georgia National Fair, the Portrait Society of
Atlanta, and the Atlanta Artist’s Club. She is an instructor at John
Creek Arts Center in John Creek, Georgia.
